I have been very anxious for the past week. I was so worried something would go terribly wrong today. Well the day is almost over and everything has gone okay.
I am not sure why I have felt this way, perhaps it was because I really did not want to see this day come. But it is here and now we have to accept and continue on.
I do not like to say "I told you so" and maybe I won't have to but.....
....time will tell, just exactly what promises this new President will really be able to keep.
It is not that I do not like the new president, it is the misinterpretation I am seeing by many Americans. The President is simply a human being, ELECTED by the masses. He is not a god or savior that many are holding up this man to be by their actions and words. In my opinion and others, He is a man, who has only achieved who he is today, through knowing the "right people" .
My hope and prayers are that we will be safe and survive this man's tenure as president. It is a shame he is going to have to "learn" during this tenure.
And believe me when I say, I see this new president as an American, his skin color is transparent to me. My major concern is his, "lack of experience".
For once I hope I won't get to say "I told you so".
But may I say,

Yes, perhaps he did know the right people -- but he's also worked his tail off. Law school at Harvard. President of the Harvard Law Review. Successful career. Beautiful family. Published two books. None of those things were handed to him, he worked hard for them.
I do agree that the hype has gotten out of control. He is not a savior or a God. He is our president. And the president is just one man. He has a lot of work to do and he realizes that. He's been emphasizing how difficult it will be at every turn. His popularity will go down because he will have to make tough decisions that make people upset. It's part of the job.
Honestly, in 4 years, I think our country will be better because of him. His popularity rating may not be as high, but our country will be better. But only time will tell... We'll see if you can say "I told you so." :)
Many people have great educations, but that does not necessarily mean they can be President. My concern comes that his lack of experience is in "government work". As a Senator, it is my understanding that he spent much of his "work time", campaigning. Yes, getting out amongst the people can be experience in itself, but to be president?
Achieving experience "on the job", is just not my idea of doing it the right way.
